All guests are given soft toys to use and take home with them. We have a range of interactive toys to keep guests amused between meals and naps.
SOPHISTICATS, IS A HOTEL FOR CATS ONLY, SORRY WE LIKE DOGS, BUT SOME OF OUR GUESTS AREN'T SO KEEN, SO WE ARE A CAT'S ONLY BOARDING ESTABLISHMENT.
Unlike many catteries we are licensed to board up to 20 cats only, we have room for more but prefer to keep the number of cats we board small so we can give each of our treasured guests the time and attention they require.
It's always worth asking any potential cattery you consider using how may cats they are licensed to board and their staff ratios to cats boarded when full.
Sophisticats Boarding Cattery is a modern, purpose-built cattery, designed beyond the most recent regulations to high welfare standards, to give cats the ultimate boarding experience and their owners guilt free holidays and trips away.
We only board cats.
Set in the countryside, yet not too far from Llanelli or Carmarthen.
We have ten large suites available, we also have four green rooms adjacent to the main hotel, as well as an isolation room which is completely separate from the other cattery buildings.
As we are a small hotel, we can give each guest individual attention, we strive to make all of our guests contented cats whilst they stay with us.
SOPHISTICATS is a retreat designed and built with the needs of the guests as the major priority.
As cat owners ( well we know we are really the staff!) we understand how difficult it can be to leave your cat. We are happy to update you via e mail or text to let you know how your cat is enjoying their stay.
Each room in SOPHISTICATS CATTERY can accomodate at least two cats (our rooms are larger than most standard sizes in catteries!) although one cat can stay on a single cat basis , interconnecting doors can enlarge the space available to accommodate larger cat families that may wish to share accommodations.
We have a " One Fast Cat" exercise wheel from Pet Planet, for those guests who want to stay fit whilst on holiday. Some of our guests love it, others just want to snooze!

We also have catipilla climbing systems (www.catipilla.com) in some of our rooms, these are specially designed just for cats and can be fully disinfected between guests, unlike the fluffy fabric coated cat trees on sale.
And for those who prefer a gentler work out we have our bubble machine, loaded with special cat nip bubbles to make play more fun. Should guests prefer, they can enjoy the wildlife watching opportunities along side our room service with menus to order!
All of our guest are given soft toys, new for each guest, which if owners wish can be taken home at the end of their stay at no additional cost.
Rooms are furnished with a variety of levels and interactive toys to keep your cat entertained.
All rooms in the main cattery building are fully heated and air conditioned.
Our green rooms, which are adjacent to the main cattery building have separate sleeping areas which are individually heated, and connected to the exercise areas which can be heated during cold or inclement weather but we can also remove the clear protective panels beyond the safety corridor to give a more outdoor experience in the exercise area to those cats who prefer this. All of our cattery rooms are constructed with tiled floors and plastic walls which can be fully disinfected between guests, to ensure the safety and welfare of our guests.

We are always looking for new enrichment opportunities for our guests.
We are doing our best to attract new members of the wildlife community by providing food and shelter for them.
We have also putting Catipillar tread plates, high perches and hammocks into some of our rooms, these are made in the uk and can be completely cleaned.
ACCOMMODATION IN SOPHISTICATS
Most rooms have a roomy hideaway cabin with, two openings, inside are thick warm vet beds, which the cats love. The largest of the rooms has a two seater sofa, with a comfy vet bed tucked under, just in case your cat wants to tuck himself away or play hide and seek! Kitty city adaptable cat furniture, including scratch posts, climbing trees and interactive toys, are all available. Most rooms have a large shelf covered in a huge vet bed for the cats to stretch out on and watch the birds, or just snooze! We can tailor rooms to the individual needs and character of each guest. We want every cat to be comfortable in Sophisticats Cattery, For older cats or those with mobility issues we can provide extra steps, which are wide and stable enough for a wobbly cat.
We can also provide heat pads for the very old, young or arthritic cats. Please make us aware of your cat's rquirements.
The rooms have been constructed of materials which can be thoroughly cleaned. We have used upvc enclosures, with a porcelain flooring, which looks like wood block flooring ,so they are non porous. We have obscure panels between each room and can add additional ones if required, as for many cats seeing a strange cat right next door can be unsettling, we always strive to reduce stress for our guests, so they can concentrate on enjoying their holiday.
We use a Defra approved disinfectant, SAFE4. All of the cattery bedding can be thoroughly disinfected. This disinfectant is completely safe for cats and is effective against ringworm and covid 19. you can view details on the link to the company's website below.
All of our guests have the option of a hooded litter tray as standard ,large ones supplied for larger cats, but we are happy to provide an open one if required. Our litters of choice at Sophisticats cattery are BreederCelect and french aubiose as they are virtually dust free and comfy for soft paws, we don't scrimp on litter as we understand that cats need to be able to behave in a natural way in order to feel comfortable and at home, so each tray has a good couple of inches of litter covering the base of the tray's interior. Cat's can and will hold their ablutions in if they aren't provided with suitable facilities, this can lead to urinary infections.
We want our rooms to be as homely, yet as luxurious as possible, so we have softened the building with bright furnishings, which are completely disinfected or renewed between guests.
Throughout the day we play music and bird song and leading toward firework night and Christmas we will be using a CD to help cats deal with any distant bangs they may here at these times of year.
All of the rooms have a view out of windows to the outside and we provide bird feeders around the hotel to bring in birds for the cats to watch, moth lights at night for the night owls ! They seem to love this! Every room in the main cattery building is kept at a constant temperature, not just the sleeping area, so no having to stay in your bedroom on a chilly day!! The whole building is thermostatically controlled by our environmentally friendly air source heat pumps/ air conditioning, this keeps the air fresh as it is filtered and constantly changed without any nasty draught.
We also have four rooms adjacent to the main cattery building, these are our GREEN ROOMS, these are built of materials which like the main cattery can be completely disinfected. The Green rooms cater for cats who prefer a sense of the outdoors, these rooms have separate sleeping areas, fully heated with a window to the outside, an exercise area, with roof which can have the front of the building open to the fresh air during pleasant weather, the exercise areas are only heated when the weather is cold . The green rooms have catipilla climbing systems along with all of the comfy vet beds and scratching pads found in the main cattery. We can open flaps between these rooms for larger cat families or those who would like more room. All of the green rooms have solid walls between them, so are suited to nervous cats or those who don't like sight of any other cats. We've found these rooms have made cats who haven't settled in some other catteries calm and content, the feeling of safety they give them along with the extra height of the climbers settles the cats.
All of our rooms and their furnishings exceed the most recent animal health regulations for catteries. We have NO WOODEN SURFACES within our cattery rooms as these cannot be fully sanitised safely.
We like to keep our guests entertained, every guest gets a soft catnip toy to play with and take home too!
We provide a range of toys and activities for all our guests.
We have recently installed Catapillar cat climbing systems in some of our rooms, for some cats the opportunity to climb and rest at height gives them a sense of security. These are a uk product and completely cleanable.
The cats love them!
SOME GUESTS STILL LIKE TO SNOOZE, AFTER ALL IT'S THEIR HOLIDAY!
We live right next door to the cattery, there are three doors between every cat housed in the main cattery building and the outside.
We have an approved professionally installed WiFi fire/smoke detection system, covering the whole building, as well as a cctv security system . We are licensed by the council and insured by the Pet Plan Sanctuary.
We NEVER post the names of customers or cats on our website or facebook to ensure the security of both. We always ask for permission before using any images of your cat.
We cannot accept unneutered tomcats, unless they are kittens which have been vaccinated but are not yet large enough to neuter.
All cats staying with us must have up-to-date vaccinations and vaccination cards must accompany guests when they arrive. These will be held for the duration of the cat’s stay. This is a requirement of the boarding regulations. We can not accept photocopies.
SOPHISTICATS recommend that cats are wormed with a veterinary-approved medication prior to their stay, Advocate/ Stronghold are both recommended (check with your vet to see what they recommend for your cat) treatment up to a week before arrival is ideal. Please give us the details of which product you have last used and the date it was administered when your cat arrives..
We will do our best to make your cat’s stay with us at SOPHISTICATS as comfortable as possible. Everything your cat requires is provided, apart from medication, we can only administer veterinary prescribed medication, we are unable to provide veterinary prescribed special diets, so please bring enough for your cat's stay.
We also can adjust the furnishings in your cat's room to meet it's needs, we are able to provide:
EXTRA LARGE,STABLE STEPS FOR CATS WITH MOBILITY ISSUES
SNUGGLE PAD HEAT PADS FOR THOSE WHO LIKE AN EXTRA LOCALISED HEAT SOURCE, EVEN THOUGH THE WHOLE BUILDING IS HEATED, THESE ARE ESPECIALLY GOOD FOR OLD OR ARTHRITIC CATS.
We will also ask for details of your cat’s attending veterinary surgeon, although please be aware that in the unfortunate event that you cat is unwell we will use our registered veterinary surgeon, unless yours is very local to us,available and this has been agreed previously.
We will ask for contact details for yourself or for a person appointed by you for the period of your cat’s stay. In the event of your cat being unwell, we will endeavour to contact you or the appointed person. We will not delay in seeking veterinary treatment for any cat that we believe is unwell. Any treatment required will be at the expense of the owner, unless covered by our cattery policy. Should your cat also require worming or treatment for fleas during their stay there will also be an additional cost payable by the owner or appointed person. All cats will be checked for fleas when they arrive, not only for their benefit but also for that of other hotel residents. Only veterinary-approved medications will be used.
CATERING
We at SOPHISTICATS believe that cats will be happiest and healthiest if we maintain their regular routines and diets. You will be asked about these before your cat comes to stay. Please bring the client information form with you or you can complete one when you arrive. If your cat has stayed with us previously and his diet or requirements have changed please let us know so that we can prepare accordingly.
We provide a range of menus for cats. If your cat is on a prescription diet please bring enough with you for the duration of the cat’s stay along with any medication and full instructions Cats on prescription diets, which are provided by owners, will receive a discount on their bill of 50 pence per day. Whiskers cat milk is available, there is an additional charge for this of 50p per day. We can only administer veterinary prescribed medications.
All food and water bowls are provided and thoroughly cleaned before each meal, so there's no need to bring your own.
WATER, IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT
We know how important it is that cats drink enough water, it needs to be fresh and clean, not right next to their food, cats don't like that . We are aware that many cats don't like chlorinated water, so we have decided to offer all of our guests filtered water, refreshed regularly throughout the day, in nice wide ceramic bowls, they like that too ! Bottled Spring water is also available on request at no additional charge.
A deposit of 25% is payable on booking, and the balance is due on arrival. Please pay via internet banking or checque, details of internet banking on our details are on our booking information page.
Cancellations
should you need to cancel your cat's stay we will return the deposit to you if we are able to fill your cat's booking with another guest. Should you choose to collect your cat before the booked departure time, the full boarding fee will still apply as it is nearly always impossible to fill a room at such short notice.
WE CHARGE FOR EVERY DAY WHICH YOUR CAT IS AT SOPHISTICATS REGARDLESS OF ARRIVAL OR DEPARTURE TIMES.
